- Bring it to a repair shop.
- My guess is that the belt that runs your alternator broke, and that the belt also ran your power steering pump. Look under the hood with the car off. Depending on what kind of car you have, there will be one or more belts - they're black, and they loop around pulleys on the front or the side of the engine. If one's missing, you'll probably be able to tell, because the pulleys where the belt should be will be really shiny and empty. If that's what happened, take it to a shop and have them replace all the belts - if one broke, chances are the rest are old and will break soon, too. This shouldn't be all that expensive - less than $150 at an expensive place.
- Car Type & Year? Engine? Lights on only when the Key is first turned on? Flash on & off While Driving? More info. What is the Condition of your Belts? Idler Pulley? What are your Idle RPMs?
