I have a very small Pure Digital Flip camcorder and it works great, it's so small I can hide it most anywhere and record things secretly, but there is a red light that is there when I record, I need a good idea that can cover up the red light. The idea can't ruin/decrease the value of my camcorder the light is very close to the lens... the dimensions of the light are about 3cm x 1mm it's very small, but very bright, thanks for your help!

What is the average wavelength of light that is filtered in a camcorder? Up to what wavelength of light does a camcorder filter out? Also, does infrared light between 1350-1650nm have harmful effects on humans? If so, what side effects are experienced and what can be done to remedy the problem? Also, does anyone know where I can get infrared producing LEDs? Thanks for your time.
What digital camcorder has good low-light performance? I bought the Canon FS10 flash camcorder. It's the same as the FS100, except it has 8GB internal memory. Video looks great outside in the sun, but it loses a lot of quality inside my house, even during the daytime. I've heard that all digital cameras have trouble in low-light. Is there any camcorder in the $300-$500 range that performs well both in low-light and well-lighted conditions? Thanks.
What's a good digital camcorder to purchase for low light situations? I'm looking for a moderately priced digital camcorder that will record high quality footage in low level light situations, but also have really good sound quality. Mostly for recording live music in small club type settings. Geek speak is Greek to me. I get really confused when people talk about bites and pixels and whatnot. I just want something that can see in the (not completly) dark without being green.

Looking for a Camcorder that is good in low light? I'm looking for a Camcorder that will be good in Low Light something like a candle dinner. I would like some models, I understand the lux rating and the lower that is the better. But would also like some personal oppions from people out there that have used it. Cause it's real hard to get Circut City to turn off it's lights for me to test each camcorder. ;) LOL Thanks
What type of camcorder can have a microphone and light? I am looking for a camcorder that is capable to plug in a microphone so i can move far back from the camera and people still can hear me and a light incase it is to dark. I'm looking for something around 800-1500 or close to that range. And maybe nightvision?
Will my camcorder record IR light in the night without problems? I have a JVC Everio GZ-Mg360 and comes with a control remote and when i point the control remote it can see it and recoords the IR light so it can detected, and my question is: If i buy an infrared light that can illuminate more will my camcorder be able to see it and record in the night without problems?
Can anyone recommend an HD camcorder that is good in low light conditions? With my conventional (non high def), mini dv camcorder, night scenes (i.e in a street where the only light comes from street lamps) is fairly good but slightly fuzzy. Could a high def camcorder produce a better picture in theory, or would it simply be a higher resolution of fuzz? I know it DEPENDS on 101 different factors but I only need some rough info.
Does a camcorder have to be 0 lux to pick up infrared light? I want to be able to shoot in complete or near complete darkness. The camcorder I'm looking to buy is 1.7 lux with it's night time mode. I was wondering if I got an infrared light to go with it, if it would pick it up or if it has to be a 0 lux camera for that to be possible?
A good camcorder for low light? I am buying a new camcorder for my trip to Disneyland and am considering the Panasonic SDR-H18, PV GS320 or the Sony DCR SR62. Which one of these performs better in low light conditions? Any advice in regards to purchasing a camcorder in the less than 600 dollar range would be much appreciated. I am most interested in the Panasonic SDR-H18 but at the Panasonic website it does not list its min lux without using magicpix. With magicpix on its lux rating is 2 but magicpix seems useless cause if the user or image are moving it is blurred. I wish I knew the lux rating of the camera without using magicpix. The Sony has a lux rating of 4 without the use of its super nightshot plus infrared system.
what camcorder should I buy for a trip? I'm going to Greece in oct. I need either a camera or camcorder that is easy & light. I've never owned anything but, a 35 mm . I want one that is easy to send pictures to family, will take still photos, low light, maybe, under 1,000 under 500 better.
Where can I find a hot shoe extension to mount a microphone & light on a camcorder? I have a Sony VX2100 which has one hot shoe mount and no side mount for shotgun mics like other similar models. I’m looking for an adapter of some sort that will allow me to mount both my microphone and light at the same time. I DO NOT want the one used for many non-video cameras that mounts under the camera in the tripod hole that also has an L shaped handle. Thanks thank you sir, but the mic on the camera in that picture is the onboard stero mic, not an additional Shotgun or etc.
Do I need a camcorder with a night vision setting to use a infrared light? My friends and I are going to the Villisca Axe murder house for an overnight stay! Im so excited but was hoping we could get some on tape. We have a camcorder but it does not have night vision. Does anyone know if I buy a infrared light for night vision...will I be able to film anything in complete darkness or is the infrared light for night vision enhancement only??

Lightest digital still or camcorder? Let me ask another way. What is the lightest consumer (3+ megapixels?) digital still camera and the lightest camcorder? What about the lightest weight models with swivel viewfinders? It's hard to figure these things out through Web searching.
Does anyone have advice on recording in low light with an HD camcorder? We recently purchased SONY HDR-SR11 and we want to record some indoors low light nigh scenes without using the night vision feature (its for a suspense-like short film). Can anyone advise on settings to achieve a good shot and eliminate the graininess? The camera records great in daylight situations, low light seems to be a problem. All your experiences and ideas appreciated.
What kind of Camcorder do I need to purchase? I've been researching this for months and have not made a purchase yet. I'm looking to buy a camcorder. I want it to be light-weight, not use any tapes or cartridges. I would like to use an SD card and have the capability to connect to the computer using a USB. I don't want it to drain the battery/batteries. Cost is a factor also. Not too expensive. Would like quality video image. Photo capability not interested since I already have a digital camera. I want to use the camcorder to create home movies. Any advice helpful. Thanks.
What Is The Best Way To Video The Northern Lights? I am planning a trip to Tromso in Norway, hoping to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). I would like to try to video them using a Canon XL-H1A camcorder, but have never tried to record anything as tricky as this before. Any help, tips or guidelines you can give me, would be very much appreciated.
Differences in camcorders, lighting used in TV vs films vs personal home videos? What are the different types of camcorders called? Are there different types? The lighting, zooms look totally different in TV, films, and personal home videos. What other differences are there? How do you create home videos that look like films or even tv shows. Also, how can you capture photos and shoot videos that look professional like tv or films? I don't know anything about photography and filming.
It's time to upgrade my camcorder. Need to know pros and cons of the different media formats.? Want to upgrade from my old analog camcorder to a digital. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the 3 recording formats: DV Tape vs. Mini DVD vs. Built-in Hard Drive? I plan on doing video editing so ease of upload is a strong consideration. Is the video quality the same (excluding HD)? Also expense is a concern; the cost effectivness of buying tape vs. mini DVD or going Hard Drive. My main subject matter will be indoor sports events under not the best light conditions. Is one format better for recording such events than another. Is there buying criteria for the camcorder such as image stabilization and low light recording that I need to pay attention to. Any other buying tips would be greatly appreciated.
Can I shoot a film festival-worthy film with a camcorder? I'm considering making a film and entering it in a film festival (Newport Beach) except all I have to shoot is a JVC mini DV camera. I have no money for real equipment like mics, lights, or film quality cameras or even real actors (i tend to use friends) so should I even bother? Could I get a low-tech camcorder movie in?
What is the best hard drive camcorder under 800 dollars?? My son is a springboard diver and i need a (very) good camcorder to film him diving to send to colleges. His meets are quite often indoors so it needs to work well in low light. It will also just be a general everyday camcorder.
How to protect my camcorder when I fly? I'll be flying during my vacation soon and want to protect my camcorder when the airport people xray my bag. On a previous flight, I think the xray machine broke my gameboy light fixture, so I don't want it zapping and destroying my expensive camcorder. Is there anything I can do or should I even be worried that my camcorder will be damaged by the xrays?
What type of camcorder should I recommend for my work to purchase? We are looking for a camcorder that uses Mini-DV tapes. We would film indoors a lot so good low light quality is important. We are looking to spend less than $1500 but for the right camera could go up to $2000. We want good sound quality. I am not a pro so I wouldn't need a bunch of fancy controls, but some flexibility would be nice. What camera would you recommend us to purchase? Are there any that you have experience with that are terrible? Thanks!
What is the best pocket camcorder for night recording in normal indoor lighting? Looking to record my kids in lower light situations - basically evenings indoors. I want something small and I'm considering the Flip Ultra, Flip Mino, Kodak Zi6, Kodak zx1 and the Sony Webbie MHS-PM1, but I would consider anything small like these. Basically it needs to fit easily into a pocket. Bonus if there is an optical zoom.
What would be a good model of camcorder for filming birds and wildlife? I want to buy my Dad a camcorder for his birthday and he is keen on filming wildlife. I am looking for a camera within a £200 - 300 budget. I would like to know what specifications I should look for in terms of resolution and zoom for this subject. What special features would be useful for filming birds against the sky. Which cameras are good for managing light etc outdoors? What would be the best camera I would probably get for this sort of money?
Camcorder light? Anybody know what kind of light is best for a Panasonic camcorder? Needs to be self-powered, and I'd like one you can filter and soften . I'm thinking the LED ones create a harsh light. So perhaps a semi-professional model?
Im buying A camcorder and need to know the best typ for my needs mentioned? Ok guys, I really need some "specific" advice. I own a website that takes pictures and videos in nightclub environments and I have been starting to put more videos on the website. i eventually convert the video from whatever source to flash video and stream it on the site. i have been recently just using my point and shoot digital snapshot camera that has the video feature ( 640 by 480) to take the clips but OBVIOUSLY the video is horrible and the sound is even worse. what i really need is a small camcorder. basically after i shoot the videos, i will have to transfer them to my pc and then ill eventually encode them to flash. what is the best camera format for this need. mini dv? harddrive type? etc. i basically need a small camcorder that shoots great video and audio ( good with lo light) and is not killer expensive with the best format for editing later.. any specific models come to mind? also, do I really need HIGH-Def?
Looking for a good camcorder with specific features? Well, I'm looking for a camcorder with a decent optical zoom, compatible with memory cards, and like an infrared recording mode, where it will show up on the screen with that green/white light and put out infrared light, if that's what that is. Thing is...I need it to be less than $200. This is my first camcorder, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to make an infrared flashlight for sony camcorder night shot? Would it be as easy as getting an infrared filter and placing it on a flashlight? Do I need a specific type of light bulb? How can this be done?Would like to use it for improving the night shot on my Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder. Thanks for any info.I am thinking of using a flashlight with 830nm.Is this ideal? Thanks for any info.
Could you make a good looking short film on say a 1 ccd camcorder? I'm thinking about shooting a short film, but don't have the money for a fancy pansy 3-ccd camcorder or HDV, so I'm deciding to shoot on a cheap 1ccd camera for shots with artificial lighting, and all shoot on super 8 for daylight outdoor scenes because of the balance. Do you think I could get good quality?
What lens and light should I buy for my new Camcorder? (Panasonic PV-GS300)? I just recently purchased a new camcorder and I want a new lens that will enhance the zoom. I also would like an external light because out of all the forums I have read, they all said that one was needed. I do not want to sacrafice quality for price, but I am also not a rich person. Please let me know what a couple of the best lens' are and the amounts they cost. Thank you and Godbless!
Is HD camcorder quality supposed to be grainy indoors? I just bought a Sony HD camcorder (HDR SR10) but the quality of the videos are very grainy even though the resolution is 1920x1080. When I go outside where its very bright, the quality is very good but when I'm in my living room, where there's a decent amount of light, the quality's really grainy. Is this normal?
Can anyone give me good reasons of why not to purchase a Sony HVR-A1 Camcorder for filming shortfilms? I've been reviewing some other camcorders and it seems that the Sony is the best option, it fits into my budget although I'd preffer to purchase a Canon XL2, but too expensive... I'm looking to shoot in interiors, as well as exteriors (beach in the morning with no excess of sunlight and night streets). Software wise, I've installed Adobe Premiere and I'm planning on purchasing a steadicam and some lights too...
What is the best and smallest Camcorder for a small price tag ($400)? I'm trying to find a camcorder that I can just record various events. I need something small, pocket sized, durable, good video quality, substantial battery life, good features, good low light shooting and if there is one... something that uses discs or hard drives instead of tapes. My maximum price is $400. Any suggestions?
Do I need a new battery for my camcorder? I have an 8mm Samsung camcorder. It does not charge anymore. But when you plug the charger up to the camera everything will work fine as long as it is plugged in. Also when it is supposed to charge a red light is supposed to stay on but instead it just flashes. Is it just the battery?
