What kind of video camera should i get for short films?? I am a beginner and wanna start filming short films except i need a video camera. I dont really know much terminology and need some serious help. I want a camera in which you can film on and then upload it all on your computer and make it on a dvd or something. I have a windows XP so i would need something compatible with that. I only have around $200-$500 to spend on the camera so i need something cheap yet it is a good camera (good sound, video, lighting, etc.) So can anyone help me with what camera i should get?
Why are there what look like video cameras on above traffic lights at main intersections? At most major intersections in Houston Texas, there appears to be video cameras above each traffic light or on each of the four corner support poles. I know the city is contemplating "red light cameras" but the initiative has not been approved. What are these cameras used for? Who monitors them? Can you get a video tape of the intersection to be used for accident investigation?
Red light camera. The video shows me in the right lane making a turn.? I got a notice in the city of Burleson, TX that I ran a red light. The camera video shows me in the far right lane making a turn. When coming to the turn, I slowed down enough to make sure no one was coming into the lane I would be turning into but I will admit I did not technically "stop" at the red light, I'm probably going to end up paying it anyway, but this really burns me up. Is this something worth fighting?
How bright is a video camera light measured in lumins? I want to buy a video light that is measured in lumins (a measurement of light) in the specifications. The specs state that the power of the light is 600 lumins. How can I get an idea of the brightness of this small video light. I am familar with the power of a 10 watt video light and I know that I need somewhat more than that with the new HD camera that I bought. Is 600 lumins equal to about 10, 20 or 30 watts ???? please help .....Thanks Tom G.
Can i get out of a red light video camera ticket that said i went through, but i turned right.....? can i get out of a red light video camera ticket that says i went through an intersection? but i made right turn.... can i use the technicallity of the wording because i didnt go through the intersection, but when i called the lady she said that because i didnt make a full stop i have to pay the 75 bucks, can they just give me this general civil fine?? is a stop and go ticket "or not stopping completely at the red light" the same offense as going through a red light????
Video Camera Lighting.? I use the Canon Power Shot A530 ( digital camera ) for my videos. I know its a digital camera but i think it works pretty good as a video camera aswell. Well anyways, i just started to try to do green screening with this camera. ( My question isnt about green screening ). But when you are keying out the color of your green screen of your ediot you need the screen to remain one color. But my camera changes the color of my green screen because of the lighting i use. I wanted to know if trhere was a way to turn off the feature that ajusts to the lighting. Becasue it makes it SO HARD to key when it ajusts to the lighting. THANKS ALOT
Any tips on video taping Christmas lights? Every year I try to record the Christmas light displays in my neighborhood with my digital video camera, but every year my recordings don't come out very well. They either come out blurry or shaky or with too much contrast (in other words, you can see the lights but nothing else). Any tips? Thanks guys, you rock!
Finding ASA of video camera with light meter? I have a JVC GY HD100U camera that I need to find the ASA of. I know it is about 320 in HD mode, but I will be shooting in DV and I forget what the ASA is. I know that using a light meter, one can find the ASA of a camera- how is this done?

What is a good camera/video camera to travel with? Next year, my dad is planning to walk the kokoda trail, and I plan to buy him a digital camera/video camera for him to take. I need some help in finding one which will meet his travel needs. It needs to be light weight, take good quality pictures and video. Waterproof (if possible, or, comes with the option of waterproof casing). Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated... batterys would proberbly be the best bet, as when your travelling in the wilderness, you hardly encounter a powerpoint
Buying a decent video camera without spending alot of money? Okay.. I've looked at SO many video cameras but i don't know which one will be right. I'm going to make a short movie and i need a decent camera. The movies just a project and it'd be nice to see it in good quality. I have £200 to spend ($400) but i'd prefer not to spend THAT much on one. It's a horror film so the camera will have to be good in low lighting. Any ideas?

which video camera would you recomend to shot movies in a good level? I want to start a hobby and I'm looking for a video camera in a sufficient level to shot movies that could be showen in tv. I want to know if it should be digital, what are the recommended models and what other stuff I must have (sound light etc.). what is the basic budget I should plan?
Which Video camera should I buy for our family? I am looking for a video camera to buy for my teenage daughter (and the rest of the family) who enjoys creating movies on the computer. We had one, but there's no way to get the image onto the computer easily at home, so the new one should record to a memory card or we should be able to feed its data right into the computer. (the old one we could only do that with still shots) It also needs to have good sound quality and work well in low light conditions because I will be using it to record my partner's band's performances and we may use those for promotional purposes. Still shots are not required at all (never used it on the old camera, we've got another camera for that). It also needs to be tripod ready. Finally, it should be a good cost value because I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars on this thing. Any suggestions?
do i have the right to put video cameras, flood lights and warning sign on my property for my protection? An old lady that lives across me came with her friend and started asking me about why i have signs saying smile you are on camera and flood lights on all night and said that it was scaring her. Apparently the reflextion of the flood light is going in her house. Is this ok and do i have the right? the lights are only go on half my driveway. She complains about everything like i parked my car on he side of the street when the carpenter came and all that. The flood lights are small outdoor flood lights like the halogen style.
How do i make my video camera recordings look like cinema movies? Why is it that when i shoot videos with my camera they look different then real movies? I get that they use precise lighting and stuff but films look darker... I need a new video camera, but what should I get? My old camera is a Hitachi VM-E635LA which uses the old 8MM tapes. I do a weekly "Gear Review" video for the Internet and would like to upgrade as the batteries on the cam are loosing a charge fast and the recording heads are getting fuzzy. I have tried the Sony Handycam mini DV and although the photo quality is great, it is hard to use with the computer. You have to use the software that came with it to transfer the video to the desktop computer for editing and I could not get it to work with my editing software, (Adobe Premiere). I am not sure they make good 8mm cams anymore of if I want a digital over that. I'm lost at what I should get. I'm not even sure what I should set up for a budget for a new camera. I have good lighting and software for editing. I just need a good quality, clear, easy to use camera for my videos. Any help would be great, thanks. If you need any other info just post and I'll add in the details, thanks "go down to the camera store and ask a specialist about what ur after and prices and they can match u to the right one. goodluck" Thanks, yea my brother gets a discount at best buy so if there's one i like that they have at bust buy ill try to get it there. i guess i have to try some out and talk to a few of the guys who sell these cameras all day...
Can flash light be used while taking video with digital still cameras? I tried a couple digital cameras. I was not able to figure out how to turn on the flash light as a lighting source while taking video. Sometimes when I take video with digital camera where lighting is not sufficient, I wish I could turn on the flash light on the camera. On some camera phones, you can turn on the flash light and take video. I wonder do digital cameras have this feature. Or maybe this feature only exist on some newer digital cameras. If so, what is this feature called? What feature should I be looking for when buying a digital camera?

Will be purchasing a camcorder soon, what video camera would be best? We will soon be having children (2) and price is really not a deterrent, so long as the value of the features for the price are worth it. I know there are different types of cameras on the market (HD vs CCD, or digital vs. tape), but what would y'all recommend for a camera that has an easy transfer (memory stick or tape?), is not bulky, will last for awhile (use for the next few years (5 or so)), have consistent features (zoom , quality video), have good light quality? Or what features should I be interested in? As I have a great digital camera- having a still option within the video would not be an important option.
VIDEO CAMERA/CAMCORDER question? i wanna get a 6 mp or higher digital video camera or camcorder, that is made for video taping with night vision and maybe a video light for 260 dollars or less any suggestions?!
Video camera for every day use? I need a video camera that isn't too big, or too small. I don't want the crappy point and shoot thing, i want something that has a light for filming at night. I just need something to film every day stupid stuff and hanging out with friends, it needs to be something i can carry around without it being VERY noticable.
